Hi! Welcome to the first edition of weekly Sunday Reads. Here I would recommend some of the things I loved reading/ listening to or simply talk about what is buzzing in my mind on a Saturday afternoon.
If you like what you read, please consider sharing with someone who might enjoy these too!
While on my morning walk today, I saw a salon named Midaz Touch Beauty Salon. As the myth goes, King Midas was granted one wish. Being a king, he had everything he wanted but his greed was to get more. So his wish was " to turn everything to gold on his touch". This came to be called Midas Touch. But the ending is not as happy. He dies of starvation due to the same wish. You cannot eat gold!
If you like Myths, Ted-Ed has some great episodes on them. Check them here.
Coming to our Sunday Recommends #1 Edition, check out these:
The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell
His in-depth 6 part interview series was one of the most popular TV shows back in 1988. This work is an inspiration even for Star Wars movies where Campbell worked with his friend, George Lucas. Interview transcripts.
Kurt Vonnegut's Shape of Stories
Kurt Vonnegut graphed all famous stories from Homer's Odyssey to Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis on this very graph below :
Don’t believe it?Check it out here.
“The fundamental idea is that stories have shapes which can be drawn on graph paper, and that the shape of a given society’s stories is at least as interesting as the shape of its pots or spearheads,” Vonnegut said.

Your guide to how new narratives are being shaped in the increasingly polarised and opiniated world. My favourite one is a step by step description of rise and formation of the Woke.
What the internet is doing to the Boomers' Brains?
Misinformation. Brainwashing. Whatsapp university knows no borders.
